The Science of Bent Tempered Glass

Bent or curved glasses are largely used in architectural purposes for its partial transparency to join one place from another as this replaces the wall barriers and intersections. The glass is used for its many identifiable benefits. The bent glasses are the best to use in curve shape places. The bent tempered glass manufacturers use several methods to bend the glass with all the formalities to make them look classy and glassy.

The steps of bending and tempering the glass:

There are many modern methods that are now being used to bend a flat glass in the desired curvature. There are now CNC machines doing this job, but there are few processes that the glass passes through. Let’s mention them in steps to understand more correctly.

Step #1: firstly, the flat plane glass is heated until it gets red hot, like over 630*C.

Step #2: the heated glass is sent immediately to the bending furnace station, where the glass is bent to the desired radius.

Step #3: there is a process called lengthwise bending the glass, in which the glass is twisted into the direction in which it flows.

Step #4: crosswise is also done in which the glass is bent crosswise across the glass flow.

Step #5: then comes the tempering turn, where the bent glass is tempered with the help of cooling to gain the high energy force.

Step #6: then, out of the furnace, here comes the tempered and bent glass according to the target.

We can see that with the infusion of the latest technologies and modern tools, the bending process of glass has changed but still follows the upper mentioned steps formally to get the perfect desired outcome.

Applications of curved glass:

Not limited to only the building and construction industry, these bend tempered glasses have a wide area of application. From covering your fancy curved stairs to sealing your entire building infrastructure, these bends tempered glass are and will always be in trend.
